For me, gates are about the unexpected. About curiosity and exploration, about the childlike heart in all of us that takes flight as we anticipate a new journey. And of all gates, an open gate is the most inviting. The Open Gate, overgrown with flowers, is based on a real location in the English Cotswalds. I've kept the sketch for years, waiting for the perfect occasion to use it. I've found it now. This unassuming portal, perhaps a half-forgotten side entrance to the garden, is left open as an invitation to all. | |||
